about us

Fire Equipment Specialties was founded in 1996 by Mike Larson, a dedicated Maplewood firefighter. Mike started the company with a simple mission: to provide exceptional customer service to those who serve our communities. He owned and operated the business until October 2023, when it was purchased by Tom and his wife, Melissa.

Tom, a Battalion Chief with the Plymouth Fire Department, brings over 38 years of fire service experience to the company. Melissa is the Client Services and Account Representative. She is also the friendly voice who will actually answer the phone when you call—yes, really answer it!

Fire Equipment Specialties has now more than doubled in size and offers a full line of fire service products to meet the needs of our valued customers.
